How to fix annoying mosquitoes

2021-08-20

Mosquitoes are flying insects that feed on human and animal blood. Female mosquitoes feed on blood for egg development. The bite of a mosquito typically results in an itchy welt, but can occasionally transmit diseases.

Many types of mosquitoes lay their eggs in containers around the home such as flower pots, children’s toys, discarded tires, clogged gutters, ornamental ponds without fish, non-maintained pools or puddles on pool covers. There, the eggs hatch into larvae, develop into pupae and emerge as adults. Some species of mosquito will utilize natural freshwater habitats such as wetlands, ponds, puddles or water-filled tree holes. Other species of mosquito are able to develop in salt water habitats (e.g. saltwater marshes) and may be particularly troublesome in coastal areas.

Mosquitoes bite during the day and night. Several mosquito species, including the Asian tiger mosquito, are active during the day.The Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) is a small black and white mosquito, about 1/4-inch long. The name “tiger mosquito” comes from its white and black color pattern. It has a white stripe running down the center of its head and back with white bands on the legs.

Asian tiger mosquitoes spend the winter in the egg stage, hatching into larvae when the eggs are covered with water in the spring and summer. The larvae feed on small bits of debris and bacteria in the water.

Male mosquitoes feed on plant juices and do not bite. Female mosquitoes seek blood to help their eggs develop. Unlike many other Illinois mosquitoes, the Asian tiger feeds during daylight hours, not at night. As with other mosquitoes, though, Asian tiger mosquitoes are attracted to dark clothing, perspiration, carbon dioxide and certain other odors. The mosquito will bite squirrels, dogs, deer and other animals as well as people. About four or five days after feeding on blood, the female mosquito lays her eggs just above the surface of the water in a hard-sided container like a tree hole, old bucket or tire. When rain covers the eggs with water, the larvae hatch.

The bite of the Asian tiger mosquito is not particularly irritating to most people, but they are persistent biters. Because they breed in nearly any sort of water-filled container, they often become very common and bothersome, even in neighborhoods where there are normally few mosquitoes.

How can I avoid being bitten by a mosquito?

If you are outdoors, it is important to take proper precautions against mosquito bites.  Such precautions include wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants, placing mosquito netting over infant carriers, considering staying indoors when mosquitoes are actively biting, and installing or repairing window and door screens so that mosquitoes cannot get indoors. Help reduce the number of mosquitoes by emptying and scrubbing all sources of standing water that mosquitoes may use for breeding, such as containers, clogged gutters, etc. Bird baths should be scrubbed clean and refilled weekly.

If you are indoors, you can use mosquito repellent oil. Pestman mosquito repellent essential oil is the first plant essential oil mosquito repellent product that achieves mosquito repellent effect through natural volatilization in the world. It is made of a variety of plant essential oils evenly mixed in a specific proportion, mainly lemon essential oil, osmanthus essential oil, peppermint essential oil and so on.

It emits a pleasant and fragrant smell. This smell will interfere with the mosquito’s olfactory system, making it impossible for mosquitoes to find humans. Some mosquitoes will find an exit and fly out of the room. Mosquitoes that cannot find an exit and stay in the room will also be affected by it. Starved to death due to lack of food and water. In addition to the pleasant smell, the amount is small each time, the natural volatilization effect is good, and it is also very safe for people. It is suitable for repelling mosquitoes in various indoor environments.

The method of use is very simple. Leave the bottle open and place the bottle on the ground at the innermost corner of the room. Put a bottle in each room (10-30 square meters), so that the essential oil can diffuse throughout the room. If the room is large, you need to increase the number of bottles as appropriate. Do not open doors and windows frequently in rooms where essential oils are placed. Because 1-2 ml of essential oils are volatilized every day, if you open doors and windows frequently, the essential oils will drift to other rooms or outdoors. If the concentration of essential oils indoors does not reach a certain concentration, it will not have a good mosquito repellent effect. If you need to open the window for ventilation, it is recommended to open the window for no more than 2 hours a day.
